Amy started her classical ballet training at the age of 3 at Cameron Academy of Classical Dance where she found her love of ballet. Amy has been fortunate to learn from esteemed teachers and examiners throughout her dance training and career.
Amy has trained in many other dance genres, including Musical Theatre, Lyrical, and Ballroom. She has had many opportunities to travel throughout BC and worldwide as a dancer, and has trained at various world-renowned studios such as Edge Performing Arts in Los Angeles, and Pineapple Dance Studio in London, England.
Amy believes that teachers are lifelong students, and constantly furthers her own education. She achieved Registered Teacher Status with the Royal Academy of Dance after completing the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies program. She is also trained in Russian Ballet (Vaganova Technique) and has completed two levels of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Teacher Training.
In addition, Amy holds her Acrobatic Arts certification and Progressing Ballet Technique, a unique method designed to strengthen and address areas of weakness in ballet technique, as well as injury prevention.
Over the years, Amy’s students have been very successful in their ballet exams as well as on stage at local and international dance competitions, winning many awards and scholarships. Students of hers have been accepted into many summer school training programs including Royal Winnipeg Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, School of Alberta Ballet, and National Ballet of Canada, some being offered placement in their full time programs.
Amy is a lifelong ballet lover, and continues to take Ballet classes herself. Amy hopes to inspire her students to share in her passion for dance and movement, while providing students with strong classical ballet technique.
